Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What do I need to do to receive a quote for my countertop?

Counter Elements offers an online form option to easily request a free countertop quote, day or night. Select “Request a Quote” and fill in the necessary information. You can also contact one of our customer service representatives, during normal business hours, by calling 605-543-4000.  You can also stop in our new showroom at 41st & Western and we'd be happy to answer your questions and give you an estimate.

Which is the best countertop material?

With a vast knowledge of everything from laminate to granite, we have the product-based experience to answer your questions. Let our design professionals assist you by explaining all of the various materials available and helping you make the best choice for your unique project. Browse our online surfaces gallery to learn about each material and its benefits. Your best material choice will be based on personal preferences, product use, expectations, budget, etc.

What is the process for replacing my countertops?

Our simple process consists of the following steps: First, Counter Elements' design consultants help you choose the right materials for your home and budget. Then, our field technicians will measure and template your existing countertops. In our manufacturing facility, the measurements and chosen material are then combined to create your custom countertops. After fabrication is complete, we will schedule the installation at your convenience.   Our professional field technicians can take out your old countertops and install the new ones the same day.

Is countertop replacement expensive?

Compared to other renovation expenses like flooring, cabinets, and appliances, countertop replacement may be one of the least expensive ways to turn your kitchen and bath into beautiful centerpieces of your home.  In addition, replacing your cabinet hardware is an inexpensive way to give your cabinets a facelift - also available at Counter Elements!

Some companies cover old countertops - is this a good idea?

Counter Elements always recommends removing old countertops and replacing them with new ones for a number of reasons. Almost every countertop our technicians replace has water damage, mold or mildew around the sink area. Removing the old countertops will remove these imperfections (and any associated health risks) from your kitchen or bathroom, rather than cover them up. Countertop replacement is typically a very simple process – our field technicians are experts in removing old countertops with little mess. We’ll even make sure your old countertops are recycled and not thrown into landfills.  Be sure to get a price for new countertops - you may pay the same or even more to cover them with a thin veneer.

Does Counter Elements offer and "green" countertop options?

Yes, we offer a number of GREENGUARD certified products, including laminate, solid surface and engineered stone. For more information about GREENGUARD, visit their website: www.greenguard.org. We also provide the option of products made with recycled materials, including Paperstone (recycled paper) and Vetrazzo (recycled glass).
